Ariana, First Senior Shoot of the Spring!

Spring has sprung in the Bluegrass, and I was so excited to have my first Senior Shoot of the season.  I had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful Miss Ariana, her mother and her spunky little cousin at Gratz Park yesterday evening.  I had started preparing early in that morning...charging batteries, changing lenses, etc...when I decided that I would purchase a new memory card for the session.  I visited Murphy's Camera and after consulting with the sales person, who told me that I could take 800 pictures with this card, I bought it.   As I was packing my camera bag to leave for the shoot, I made the decision that I would only take the new memory card that I had purchased earlier because it was brand new, I had taken a few test shots and everything was fine and surely I wouldn't take more than 800 pictures.

Well, you live and you learn...as I was in the middle of photographing, I got the dreaded message from my camera that the Card was Full! Horrified and without another card, Ariana was fine with leaving Gratz Park while I ran to buy a new card and meet them at another location.  She had mentioned earlier that she might like a country setting with fences and horses in the background.  So, after I made a mad dash to buy a card, they followed us out to Shadwell Farm.  Unfortunately, there was not one horse showing their face last night.  So, since we were close to Keeneland and still had 2 hours of sunlight left, we made our way out there after the last race was over.

I was very thankful that Ariana and her mother were so kind and flexible and thankful for my substitute assistant, my sister in law Karen.  As frazzled as I was, I think I captured Ariana's sweet and easy going personality in the images we got.  She is such a beautiful girl on the outside, but her patience, sweetness and kindness on the inside will be taking her places after she graduates from George Rogers Clark High School.
